The Arms Trade Treaty is a multilateral treaty that regulates the international trade of conventional weapons. Its purpose is to reduce human suffering by preventing the illegal flow of arms to human rights abusers and terrorist groups. The treaty entered into force on Dec. 24, 2014, and has 114 nations as parties.
