The former African Union Mission in Somalia, now known as the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia, is an A.U. peacekeeping operation that supports Somali security forces in their fight against Al-Shabaab. In 2025, ATMIS was set to be replaced by the A.U. Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia, a new mission with 11,900 personnel.
