ILO reports more than 1-in-5 experience workplace violence
Only 23 nations ratified an ILO treaty that entered into force in 10 nations and will take effect in 13 others next year.
The ILO Convention on Violence and Harassment is the first international treaty to recognize the right of everyone to a world of work free from violence. Adopted in 2019, it provides a comprehensive legal framework for preventing and eliminating violence and harassment, including gender-based violence, in all sectors and forms of employment. The convention, which has been ratified by many nations, also applies to online spaces, during commutes, and at work-related social gatherings.
