Navajos thanked Irish donors for repaying a 173-year-old favor that was an early example of an international aid organization.
The Central Relief Committee of the Society of Friends was a historic relief organization formed by British Quakers in 1914 at the start of World War I. Its mission was to provide relief to civilian victims of the war, including Belgian refugees. It was a precursor to modern Quaker organizations that continue this work today.
