The E.U.-U.S. Privacy Shield was a legal framework that governed the transfer of personal data from the E.U. to the U.S. It was the successor to the invalidated E.U.-U.S. Safe Harbor agreement but was itself declared invalid by the European Court of Justice in 2020, citing U.S. government surveillance practices.
