New global fund launches to restore biodiversity in developing countries
The Global Environment Facility set up the new multilateral fund with key initial investments from Canada and the U.K.
The Global Biodiversity Framework Fund is a new financial mechanism established to support the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. The fund, which is managed by the GEF, has a specific target to allocate 20% of its resources to projects led by Indigenous peoples and local communities.
