
U.N. tourism agency signals growth in greener, more ethical travel
Tourism now accounts for about 1-in-10 jobs worldwide, but it uses up significant amounts of energy and other resources.
The Global Convention on Tourism Ethics is a framework for sustainable and responsible tourism, establishing a set of ethical principles to guide the industry. Adopted by the UNWTO General Assembly in 2019, it is the first international legal instrument on tourism ethics and aims to ensure the industry’s contribution to sustainable development.
