The Global Preparedness Monitoring Board is an independent monitoring and accountability body that ensures preparedness for global health crises. Co-convened by the WHO and the World Bank in 2018, its first report, published months before the COVID-19 pandemic, presciently warned that the world was unprepared for a respiratory pandemic.
