The Agreement to Prevent Unregulated High Seas Fisheries in the Central Arctic Ocean is a legally binding international accord. Signed by ten nations, including the U.S. and China, the agreement establishes a 16-year moratorium on commercial fishing in the region to allow for scientific research and a better understanding of the ecosystem.
