At ILO conference, labor leaders emphasize role in peace and justice
More than 5,000 people gathered, drawing links between the stabilizing forces of work, peace and resilience.
The ILO Employment (Transition from War to Peace) Recommendation, adopted in 1944, was the first international instrument to provide guidance on employment policy during post-war recovery. It was a foundational document that aimed to ensure decent work and social justice were central to peacebuilding. This recommendation has since been revised and replaced by the ILO Recommendation on Employment and Decent Work for Peace and Resilience (No. 205) to address a broader range of contemporary crises.
