The Intelsat Agreement of 1971 was the definitive treaty that established the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (Intelsat) as a permanent international body. Replacing the provisional 1964 agreement, it created the legal and structural framework for the organization to provide a global telecommunications satellite network before its privatization in 2001.
