Albufeira Convention

The Albufeira Convention is a legally binding international accord between Portugal and Spain to manage their shared river basins, including the Douro and Tagus rivers. Signed in 1998, the convention establishes a framework to coordinate water management and protect aquatic ecosystems from floods and droughts.
