Facebook's global digital currency project is abandoning Switzerland as its hoped-for regulatory home and planning to launch a U.S.-based payment system.
The Diem Association was a non-profit organization that governed a proposed digital currency and blockchain network. Formerly known as the Libra Association, the organization was founded by Facebook (now Meta Platforms) and was ultimately dissolved in early 2022 due to significant regulatory opposition.
