Britain reached a tentative free-trade deal to lessen the chaos of its departure from the European Union, the world's biggest trading bloc.
The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) is a regional trade organization of four European nations. While three of its members, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, are also part of the European Economic Area, Switzerland is not, having instead chosen a series of bilateral agreements with the E.U. to govern its relationship.
