The Inter-American Convention Against Corruption is a landmark OAS treaty that entered into force in 1997. As the world's first anti-corruption convention, its purpose is to strengthen cooperation among nations to prevent, detect, and punish corruption. It obligates its signatories to criminalize specific offenses like transnational bribery and facilitate legal assistance.
