GENEVA (AN) — The U.N. Human Rights Council is grappling with significant financial and political challenges as it prepares for its 60th session next week.

A system-wide budgetary crisis, largely owing to the Trump administration's severe reductions in U.S. funding for the U.N. system, has forced the session to be shorter than usual, a situation that has drawn concern from both within the U.N. and from non-governmental organizations.
