Childhood immunization at 85% but some coverage gaps fuel outbreaks

GENEVA (AN) — Global childhood vaccination rates held steady in 2024, but the World Health Organization and UNICEF warn nearly 20 million infants worldwide missed at least one dose of key vaccines.

Data from the U.N. organizations' new report on Tuesday shows that 85% of infants received the full three doses of the diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis vaccine, a benchmark for overall immunization rates.
