Gaza famine risk recedes after ceasefire as Somalia hunger deepens

Global food security experts announced famine conditions in Gaza City have been alleviated since the Oct. 10 ceasefire, but the Gaza Strip remains in a state of emergency with 1.6 million people facing acute hunger.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification's update on Friday arrived alongside a deteriorating outlook for Somalia, where a convergence of climate shocks and funding shortfalls is projected to push 4.4 million people into crisis by the end of 2025.
