Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty

The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty was a landmark 1987 arms control agreement between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. It banned all ground-launched ballistic and cruise missiles with ranges of 500 to 5,500 kilometers. The treaty, which was crucial to ending the Cold War, was officially terminated in August 2019.
