AI 'capability' among countries could deepen the rich-poor divide

The notion that artificial intelligence could help developing nations become more competitive may be misguided, according to a new report from the U.N. Development Program.

The UNDP report, released on Tuesday, warns that AI could deepen divides in economic, social, and governance channels, with benefits flowing fastest to early movers in higher income countries while disruptions hit hardest where social protection and digital foundations are weak.
