Three European powers initiated a diplomatic process to reimpose United Nations sanctions on Iran, in a renewed bid to rein in its nuclear program.

The move by France, Germany, and the United Kingdom to trigger "snapback" provisions of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal on Thursday marks a significant escalation of international pressure, aiming to further isolate Tehran.
