Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates has called for a "major strategic pivot" in global climate policy, advocating for a shift in focus from ambitious temperature goals to alleviating poverty and disease.

In a detailed memo on Tuesday released ahead of U.N. climate summit COP30 next month in Brazil, he argued the prevalent "doomsday outlook" misallocates scarce resources away from immediate humanitarian needs.
