Nuclear weapons spending globally surpassed $100 billion last year

Nuclear-armed nations possess about 12,400 nuclear warheads, but nearly 90% belong to Russia and the U.S.

GENEVA (AN) — The world's nine nuclear-armed nations spent $100.2 billion on their nuclear arsenals in 2024, a global coalition reported.

That translates to $190,151 per minute and a jump of 11%, or $9.9 billion, in spending on nuclear weapons from the previous year, according to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.
