Human Rights Council divided as U.N. warns of atrocities in Sudan

Established by the U.N. Human Rights Council in October 2023, the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for the Sudan's mandate is to investigate and establish the facts, circumstances, and root causes of all alleged human rights violations and abuses, and violations of international humanitarian law, committed in the context of the ongoing armed conflict in Sudan since April 2023. It collects and preserves evidence, identifies those responsible, and makes recommendations.
