Pandemic treaty faces last test as equity fight stalls final annex

GENEVA (AN) — The World Health Organization warned that negotiators have a narrow window to finish the operational core of its pandemic treaty.

Opening the sixth meeting of WHO's Intergovernmental Working Group, Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus cautioned delegates on Monday that more time will not bring a better deal to bring to the 79th World Health Assembly for approval in May. Developing nations pushing for more equity describe the talks as a crucial test of multilateralism.
