U.S.–U.K. talks add new layer to Iran standoff as Trump sets deadline

WASHINGTON (AN) – Britain’s foreign secretary was set to meet U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio as tensions rise over Iran and the potential use of a key British-controlled military base in the Indian Ocean.

The meeting on Friday comes one day after U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran has 10 to 15 days to reach a nuclear agreement or face consequences, and after Tehran warned the United Nations it would retaliate against U.S. bases if attacked.
