U.S. weighs NATO exit as alliance tensions deepen over Iran war

The remarks come as Washington presses European allies to support operations linked to the war and security in the Gulf.

WASHINGTON (AN) — U.S. President Donald Trump said he is "strongly considering" withdrawing the United States from NATO, making the remarks in multiple settings over recent days as tensions with European allies deepen over the Iran war.

Trump raised the possibility this week in an interview with The Telegraph, at a private White House lunch later posted online, and in a separate interview with Reuters, where he said he was "absolutely" considering leaving the alliance.
