GENEVA (AN) — A new index of journalism covering international organizations found reporting was stronger at explaining why events matter than showing how institutions make decisions or incorporating a broad range of perspectives.

The Geneva Center for Multilateral Journalism, or GCMJ, launched its Multilateral Journalism Index on Monday with a six-week pilot examining 247 coverage records from 71 media outlets. Of those, 230 received full scores across four dimensions: substance, public understanding, governance literacy and source diversity.
