GENEVA (AN) — United Nations investigators are examining whether people outside Myanmar who provide weapons and other material used in atrocities could face prosecution in foreign courts, as evidence is built tracing attacks on civilians through the military’s command structure.
Nicholas Koumjian, head of the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar, said on Tuesday that investigators have begun discussions with judicial authorities in several countries over potential cases involving people who provide the means for crimes committed inside Myanmar.
