WASHINGTON (AN) — The Trump administration imposed sweeping sanctions on the International Criminal Court, threatening to cripple its financial and technological operations and escalating a campaign against the institution responsible for prosecuting genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the measures on Friday, hours after the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Navi Pillay, a former ICC judge and U.N. human rights chief, for her decades of work advancing international law and accountability. President Donald Trump has openly sought the Nobel Peace Prize for himself.
