UNFPA confirms contraceptive supplies drop amid global aid cuts

Decades of progress in family planning are unraveling in Kenya as contraceptive stocks dwindle across the nation, the result of a significant plummet in global funding that has left millions of the most vulnerable women and girls without access to essential reproductive healthcare.

The U.N. sexual and reproductive health agency, UNFPA, confirmed on Thursday that a lack of supplies has led to popular brands like Depo-Provera and Implanon NXT falling out of stock in public hospitals and clinics in countries across Africa, including Kenya and Zambia.
