In Swiss court, Indonesian islanders take on cement giant over climate

The court's preliminary hearing focused on whether the case is admissible under Swiss law, setting a potential precedent.

A Swiss court is weighing a landmark civil case that pits four Indonesian islanders against the global cement giant Holcim, with a ruling on its admissibility still pending.

At the end of a preliminary hearing on Wednesday at the Cantonal Court of Zug, the Civil Court announced it would rule on the admissibility of the complaint in writing "in due course."
