GENEVA (AN) — The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs launched its 2026 emergency aid appeal, seeking a prioritized target of $23 billion to assist 87 million of the world’s most vulnerable people across 50 countries and nations.
The appeal on Monday marks a severe scaling back of ambition, in what humanitarian leaders call a deepening "solidarity gap" between required and actual aid due to massive cuts in U.S. and European donations.
