U.S. plan to boycott U.N. rights review draws broad condemnation

Each U.N. member nation is obliged to have its human rights record examined approximately every four and a half years.

GENEVA (AN) — The Trump administration will not allow U.S. officials to take part in a review of the country's human rights record that is required of every U.N. member nation, prompting an outcry from advocacy groups.

United Nations human rights officials were told of the U.S. decision on Thursday to withdraw from its fourth review scheduled for November.
