Venice Biennale jury resigns after citing ICC-linked award exclusion

The entire international jury for the 2026 Venice Biennale has resigned days before the exhibition’s opening, following a dispute over its decision to exclude artists from countries whose leaders are accused of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court.

In a brief statement published on Thursday, the five-member jury said it had stepped down “in acknowledgment” of its earlier position, announced a week ago.
