Global economy dimmed by rising temps as worker productivity drops

New guidance from five decades of research reveals worker productivity declines 2-3% for every degree above 20°.

GENEVA (AN) — Extreme heat poses an escalating threat to both the health and economic output of the global workforce, according to a new joint report from the World Health Organization and the World Meteorological Organization.

The report, "Climate change and workplace heat stress," highlights that workers in manual labor sectors such as agriculture and construction are already experiencing significant health impacts from rising temperatures and more frequent and intense heatwaves.
