NATO launches Arctic Sentry to consolidate High North presence

Military alliance's new coordination framework links Allied drills as Russia expands military activity in the High North.

NATO has launched Arctic Sentry, a new effort to coordinate Allied military activities in the Arctic and High North, as the region assumes greater strategic weight for the alliance.

The initiative, announced on Wednesday by Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, will bring existing national exercises and deployments under a single NATO coordination framework.
