The U.N. refugee agency is preparing a sweeping restructuring of its operations, including changes to its presence in 31 locations and reductions in senior management, as a deepening funding crisis forces it to reconsider how it delivers international protection to millions of displaced people.
U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Salih outlined the changes on Monday in an address to the agency's Executive Committee, saying an independent management review had prompted a reorganization of country operations, regional offices and headquarters.
