U.S. and Iran outline principles for nuclear deal in Geneva talks

Indirect negotiations mediated by Oman advance despite military signaling and unresolved enrichment dispute.

GENEVA (AN) — The United States and Iran agreed on preliminary principles for a potential nuclear agreement after a second round of indirect negotiations in Geneva, marking the first structured diplomatic movement between the sides since last year’s conflict.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the talks on Tuesday produced an understanding on "main principles" and that "the path for a deal has started," though substantial differences remain.
