GENEVA (AN) — A deepening hunger crisis is poised to engulf Afghanistan through late 2026, according to a series of emergency assessments from the United Nations and the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification.

The assessments released on Tuesday point to a catastrophic combination of climate shocks, mass deportations, and a collapse in international aid leaving millions of people on the brink of starvation.
