GENEVA (AN) — Days after the United States confirmed it had completed its withdrawal from the World Health Organization, the agency warned that the move would weaken global health security.

WHO said on Saturday that the U.S. decision “makes both the United States and the world less safe,” pointing to the organization’s role in disease surveillance, outbreak response, and coordination during public health emergencies. The issue is expected to be reviewed by the WHO Executive Board in February and by the World Health Assembly in May.
