Global Fund secures $11.34 billion but progress threatened by shortfall

The amount of pledges was down from its $18 billion target, and 27% less than the $15.7 billion it raised three years ago.

The world's biggest disease-fighting fund raised 63% of its budget target for work from 2027-2029, reflecting the challenges of seeking donations amid a U.S.-led retreat from global health funding.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria announced on Friday that its partners pledged $11.34 billion of its $18 billion target during a high-level event on the sidelines of the G20 leaders summit.
