GENEVA (AN) — An estimated 258 million school-aged children and adolescents are now affected by conflict, displacement, climate shocks and other crises that disrupt their education, according to new global estimates released by Education Cannot Wait, underscoring the growing scale of one of the world's largest development challenges.

The report released on Tuesday by the United Nations' global fund for education in emergencies found that 93 million crisis-affected children are entirely out of school, while another 165 million remain enrolled but face disruptions that undermine learning and increase the risk of dropping out.
