GENEVA (AN) — The United Nations will reduce staffing at two training institutions by 26% as it merges them into a single body under the UN80 reform initiative, one of the clearest examples yet of the organizational consolidation being pursued across the U.N. system.
The new structure foresees 153 staff, a 26% reduction from current staffing, U.N. Institute for Training and Research Executive Director Michelle Gyles-McDonnough told reporters on Friday. The merger is expected to generate savings of $5.5 million to $7 million, against one-time transition costs estimated at $7 million to $9 million.
